FAQ — Factorio download size
How big is Factorio download / install size?
Factorio typically needs about 4 GB installed. Plan ~5 GB free for updates, shader cache, and DLC.
How much SSD space for Factorio?
Keep at least 5 GB free on a fast NVMe/SSD. AAA titles update often — leaving headroom avoids “disk full” mid-patch.
Can I install Factorio on an HDD?
It may run, but load times and stuttering are worse. For open-world and recent AAA, an SSD is strongly recommended.
Is Factorio CPU or GPU heavy?
Mostly CPU (UPS). Huge bases stress cores more than graphics.
